Petri Haavisto (1984) is a visual artist living and working in Pori, Finland. He graduated from the Kankaanpää art school in 2021, In the past few years he has worked in several projects such as the Attractive Nordic Towns, Urb Cultural Planning, Urbact Come In!, iPlace and Lähiöohjelma 2020-2022. He has also created public art works, a recent example being the “Nousu” sculpture erected on highway 23. As his materials he utilizes 3D-filament, ceramics, concrete, bronze and steel. Haavisto also works with recycled materials and found objects, particularly trampoline mats.
He has held exhibitions in Finland, Latvia, the Netherlands and Portugal. Petri is deeply influenced by nature, where he love to spend his time, and even to lose his sense of time. His sculptures are often nature themed. Current work are inspired by images of the last moments of the earth, and of the merciless sea.

Kuusi viikkoa kestävä taidenäyttelyiden ja tapahtumien kokonaisuus, joka tuo kulttuuria ja kuvataidetta Porin keskustan sydämeen. Syyskuun lopussa Porin päivästä 25.9. alkaen ydinkeskustassa sijaitseva Isokarhun ostoskeskus toimi näyttämönä lukuisille taiteilijoille ja heidän teoksilleen. Tyhjiin tiloihin syntyi taidenäyttelyitä ja installaatioita sekä yhteisöllinen tila. Ihmiset pääsivät kokemaan taidetta ja tapahtumia elektronisen musiikin iltaklubeista ja live-keikoista performanssitaiteeseen.
Jo ennen koronapandemiaa Porin keskusta oli alkanut autioitua, mikä näkyy kaikkein ilmeisimmin Isokarhun ostoskeskuksen tyhjyyttään kumisevilla käytävillä. Mutta tyhjät liiketilat tarjoavat mahdollisuuden kulttuurin kukoistamiseen ja tarjoavat ainutlaatuisen tilaisuuuden yhteisöllisten tilojen sekä kulttuuritapahtumien istuttamiselle osaksi kaupunkimaisemaa.
Kun näimme tyhjissä kaupunkitiloissa olevan potentiaalin, halusimme luoda uuden kunnianhimoisemman tapahtuman ja tuoda jotain uutta Porin taidekentälle, yhdessä Farbod Fakharzadeh ja Ville Kirjasen kanssa.
Päämääränä on rakentaa paitsi vuosittain järjestettävä taidetapahtuma, myös tapa hyödyntää julkista tilaa taiteelle ja kulttuurille, tapa luoda avoimempi, inklusiivisempi ja läpinäkyvämpi taidetapahtuma.
Haluamme auttaa yrityksiä ja toimijoita näkemään taiteen ja kulttuurin vaikutus yhteisöissä ja henkitoreissaan olevien kaupunkitilojen elvyttämisessä. Ars Pori Megastore aikoo saavuttaa tämän luomalla taiteilijalähtöisiä näyttelyitä ja tapahtumia, jotka saavat ihmiset näkemään ympäristönsä uudella tavalla.
Six week long festival including exhibitions, live performances and events that welcomes art and culture into the heart of Pori. Opening on the 25th of September inside the Isokarhu shopping center in the city center of Pori, it provides a platform for a large selection of unique artists by claiming the vacant spaces left behind by businesses. Keeping the Covid-19 restrictions in mind, it will also offer a social space where people can reconnect, experience art and enjoy events ranging from experimental and classical music to graffiti workshops.
Well before the start of the pandemic, businesses were abandoning the city center of Pori, Which was most evident in the empty corridors of the local shopping center. However the vacant spaces offer a unique opportunity for culture to flourish, a chance to plant cultural events and community spaces into this sterilized barren cityscape.
Our goal together with Farbod Fakharzadeh & Ville Kirjanen is to create an annual art festival that reclaims public spaces as a place for art and culture and in doing so offers a renewed operation model for a safer, more diverse and more transparent art festival. We hope to help businesses and local organizations and cultural agents see the impact art and culture can have in communities and in revitalizing urban spaces. Ars Pori Megastore aims to bring this about by creating artist driven exhibitions and events that can give people a new way of seeing their surroundings and the potential hidden within them.
